Solve Pelvic Floor Dysfunction for Good

Stefanie Zerbe

For, well, ever, it’s been taboo to talk about the pelvic floor.  Our privates, are private.  So the conversation about symptoms of dysfunction just don’t happen, but they need to!   It’s just been a part of the narrative that if you have had babies or you are aging that you start to pee yourself or that your organs will fall out the bottom and the options are surgery or just wear a diaper.

People need to know the signs of pelvic floor dysfunction, and that there is something you can do to prevent and resolve the dysfunction. Empower Physical Therapy can help!

What is the Pelvic Floor?

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that form a hammock at the bottom of your pelvis to support and control bowel and bladder. They play an important role in sexual sensation and function and what many people don’t know is that it forms the base of the core muscle groups.

What are the signs of pelvic floor dysfunction?

  • Frequency and urgency to urinate
  • Constipation
  • Stress incontinence of urine or feces
  • Pelvic pain or pressure
  • Painful intercourse
  • Prolapse
  • SI joint and low back pain

If you experience any of these symptoms, try physical therapy. At Empower Physical Therapy we use a non-internal approach to help you restore these issues and restore the function of your pelvic floor.
