A Pain in the Neck

A Pain in the Neck

Brad Lunsford, MPT

Have you ever had neck pain? How about pain in your shoulder areas? Maybe “tension headaches” which originate in your neck? Numbness or tingling down your arms or hands? It has been supposed that two thirds of the population have some form of neck pain at some point in their life. Well, those statistics are only growing and seem to have a direct correlation with us becoming a forwardly positioned society. Whether it’s sitting at our desks at work, staring at computer screens, or on our couches at home scrolling through our phones or tablets, our hands are forward, and our shoulders are rounded for hours throughout the day.

Unfortunately, our bodies were not built to evolve as fast as our technological advancements have. So how do we counter these issues?… Postural corrections are a good answer. Physical therapy will address proper positioning, muscle imbalances, and appropriate postural strategies. We prefer early correction before surgical intervention ever becomes a thought. So, if you have any neck related concerns, come and see us.
