FAQs About Pelvic Health Physical Therapy at Empower!

Kansas is a direct access state, so you do NOT need a referral. However, some state insurances require an authorization and a referral helps get PT approved. A referral on file can help us see you for long-term if warranted (over 3 months).

This is the most common hesitation that people have about pelvic floor physical therapy! You do NOT have to have an internal exam, and not everyone would benefit from one. If your PT recommends this but you are uncomfortable with it, you can always request not to have one performed.

Our typical session is 40 minutes, both for your first visit and follow up appointments.

It is common to treat pelvic floor cases with 1 or 2 times a week in the clinic. You may attend physical therapy for multiple weeks. More severe & chronic cases may require longer care. If you have financial concerns, just call any of our offices to discuss your insurance benefits & you can schedule a free 20 minute consultation to talk through your needs with one of our pelvic health PTs.
