Could you have an Unresolved Concussion?
“My Head Hurts”, “My ears are ringing”, “I get dizzy”. These are common things I hear from individuals with unresolved concussions/mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI). Concussions commonly resolve on their own but that is not always the case. An unresolved concussion can last anywhere from days to decades.
If you’re wondering if you could have an unresolved concussion, these are the common symptoms we see:
- Headaches and ringing in the ears brought on by:
- Concentrating for a long period of time
- Bright lights
- Loud/constant sounds
- Movement (either while driving or walking)
- Moving objects
- Aerobic activity like jogging
- Dizziness/Blurred vision brought on by:
- Walking
- Looking side to side/Up and down
- Passing by an object/objects
There are many more symptoms yo could be having, all as the result of an unresolved concussion.
Whether it’s been two days or two years since you’ve suffered a concussion/MTBI there are things you should be doing in order to get back to your old self sooner. Do not ignore and push through any symptoms you could be having because they may delay the recovery process. Don’t leave your recovery up to chance either. You should consult a concussion specialist near you in order to speed up your recovery. We treat this issue at Empower Physical Therapy, so reach out to schedule a screening to see if physical therapy is the right step for you.
